Veterinary science: Turkish, Pakistani universities discuss ways to enhance collaboration

Turkish and Pakistani universities are discussing ways to enhance collaboration within veterinary science to improve livestock research, education and scientific development. A five member delegation from the Namik Kemal University and Middle East Technical University on Friday called on the Vice-Chancellor of Pakistan's University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore, Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and discussed prospects of collaboration among universities.
The Turkish delegation, which was led by Namik Kemal University Rector Professor Dr Osman Simsek Halal, Middle East Technical University Professor Dr Inci Togan, discussed on ways for joint collaboration within the fields of research, education and scientific development for the benefit of livestock sector in Pakistan.
Osman Simsek acknowledged that UVAS is among Pakistan's top five universities in research. He stressed that the university should strive to develop quality leadership amongst its students and that both universities could collaborate and strengthen relations within the fields of scientific research. He also said that recent MoU between two Turkish universities and UVAS would be a good initiative to develop institutional linkages and improve academic environment at par with international standards. The delegation members took keen interest in UVAS' Best Breed Animal Shed including Neeli Ravi Buffalo, Sahiwal Cow, Bital Goat and Lohi Sheep. They also visited the dog breeding and training center, milk plant, poultry farm fish farms.
