The Karachi Port handled 77,703 tonnes of cargo comprising 26,913 tonnes of import cargo and 50,790 tonnes of export cargo including 3,620 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 26,913 tonnes comprised of 23,126 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,649 tonne of general cargo; 938 tonnes of bulk cargo: 673 tonnes of chickpeas; 265 tonnes of seeds and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,790 tonnes comprised of 34,438 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,896 tonnes of general cargo; 12,456 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,456 tonnes of cement and 8,000 tonnes of loose bulk cement. Seven ships namely CS Discovery, OEL Trust, Ital Onore, Le He, Danica Sunrise, Cedar Galaxy and Ceren Urkmez carrying three container ships, two general cargo ships, one oil tanker and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz APL Brisbane, Salis, Lt Trieste, Jakarta Express, Danica Sunrise, Sapphiure-II and Alliance St. Louis with three container ships, one general cargo ship, one bulk cargo ship and one car carrier respectively are currently at the berths. Five ships namely APL Brisbane, Salis, Jakarta Express, UBC Cyprus and Pacific Future with three container ships, one cement carrier and one talc powder carrier respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.
Three ships namely Annina Schulte, YM Fuzhou and Oriental Rose with two container ships and ethanol ship due to arrive on Thursday, while seven vessels viz Emirates Ganges, APL Guangzhou, YM Asia, Kota Akbar, Wan Hai-606, Nagogini and Lenor carrying five container ships, one chemicals carrier and one steel coils carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
The total export cargo of 7,599 tonnes includes 3,222 tonnes of rice; 469 tonnes of cement and 3,908 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely MV Emek-S, MV ACX Rafflesia and MV Ionian Sea sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of five vessels MV Emek-S, MV ACX Rafflesia, MV Ionian Sea, MT Al-Soor-II and MV SC Dalian are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely Nora Maersk, Mare Attanticum, Safmarine Nagami, CGM Wagner, Afamia, Paiute, Synnove Knutsen and Bunga Kantantiga with scheduled to load/offload containers, rice, canola grain, chemicals and edible oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of seven vessels viz CV Mare Attanticum, CV Safmarine Nagami, CV Nora Maersk, CGM Wagner, Afamia, Paiute and Synnove Knutsen carrying containers, rice, canola grain and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertiliser Terminal (FAP) and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
