Futures open interest up by 0.3 percent

Total open interest position at the futures counter during the week ended on December 10, 2011 increased by Rs 3.5 million, up 0.3 percent, on week-on-week basis, to Rs 1.1 billion. The future spreads, on the other hand, declined by 9.2pps to 2.6 percent.
Trading improved and the average daily volume at the futures counter increased by 32 percent to 5.4 million shares.
The top 5 scrips at the futures counter, holding 66 percent of the total open interest, were FFC, Engro, POL, NBP and PSO.
