The Punjab Government on Saturday notified appointment of Professor Talat Naseer Pasha as Vice Chancellor University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore for a term of four years with immediate effect.
Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha assumed the charge of UVAS Vice Chancellor office on Saturday afternoon. Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, is senior most Dean of UVAS and holds DVM, M.Sc. (Hons) degree in Nutrition and Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from West Virginia University USA. He has over 30 years of teaching, research and administration experience. He developed PC-I of UVAS and was first registrar, had three tenures of Dean, was acting Vice Chancellor for five times and currently member of University syndicate. He has supervised over 66 postgraduate students and published over 70 research papers in international refereed scientific journals.
Professor Pasha is author of chapters of two international books and presented papers in many national and international conferences. He was selected for Higher Education Commission (HEC) Best University Teacher Award for the year 2009 and Professional Development Training for Higher Education Leaders of Pakistan in March, 2011 at UK. He won twelve research grants and currently conducting two research projects.
Dr Pasha is amongst one of few whose research is linked with livestock and poultry industry. He is member of Advanced Studies Research Board of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, GC University, Lahore and Member Executive Committee, Punjab Agricultural Research Board.
Fellow of Animal Nutrition Society of India, Member, International Buffalo Federation Italy and former President of Asian Buffalo Association and Member of Editorial Board of three International Journals. He has been working as consultant to GTZ, Livestock and Dairy Development Department/Board, SMEDA, US Grain Council, IDRC Canada and World Bank.
