An Anti-Terrorism Court on Saturday adjourned the hearing of Mumbai attack case till December 17, 2011. The notification had been issued for the formation of judicial commission for investigation into Mumbai attack. The court directed the counsels of the accused whether any of them wanted to be member of the commission, he must file his individual details in two days so that procedural action could be completed in time.
In a reversal from their earlier stand, lawyers defending the seven Pakistani suspects charged in the Mumbai attack case informed the court that they were willing to travel to India as part of a judicial commission that will quiz witnesses and officials.
Khawaja Sultan, the counsel for Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the main accused in the Mumbai attacks case, informed the ATC judge Shahid Rafique during proceedings held in Adiala Jail that defence lawyers would go to India as part of the judicial commission.
But earlier, Sultan had contended that none of the defence lawyers would go to India with the commission due to security concerns. He was of the view that the lawyers fear for their safety in India and that the accused would be unable to afford the visit expenses.
