Earthquake, Mangla Dam affected people: rehabilitation within stipulated timeframe: AJK Prime Minister
Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has said that his government is fully committed for the on-time completion of the process of resettlement and rehabilitation of the affected people of under-construction Mangla Dam raising project.
The Prime Minister has directed WAPDA and Mangla Dam Resettlement Organisation and nation building institutions to focus on removing the reservations and apprehensions of Mangla Ddam vis-vis their rehabilitation in a complete required environment at their new abodes including New Mirpur city. Talking to various delegations of Mangla Dam affected people during visit to New Mirpur city late Sunday, the Prime Minister said
that the affected people will be rehabilitated before the completion of the gigantic project. He said that the settlement of the displaced persons at the substitute site in the new housing resorts including New Mirpur city and four model towns at several places in this district will be ensured.
The Prime Minister said that the provision of liberal financial assistance by the government of Pakistan was the ample proof of this fact that the government was taking keen interest for the overall development and progress of the liberated territory including for the complete rehabilitation of the Mangla Dam affected people.
He said that the government has so far disbursed billions of rupees for the rehabilitation of the Mangla Dam affected people and the AJK government was giving full attention, under the already-determined priorities. Chaudhry Majeed said that the government has fixed the priorities for accomplishment of its plan for the rehabilitation of the affectees of Mangla Dam falling displaced due to the under-construction project of raising of the dam. He said that he would always represent the feelings of the Mangla Dam affectees at each forum to get them resettled.
