The Karachi Port handled 123,549 tonnes of cargo comprising 98,600 tonnes of import cargo and 24,949 tonnes of export cargo including 6,768 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 98,600 tonnes comprised of 70,994 tonnes of containerised cargo; 24,128 tonne of general cargo; 978 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,949 tonnes comprised of 22,596 tonnes of containerised cargo; 425 tonnes of general cargo and 1,928 tonnes of bulk cargo. Three ships sailed out to sea during the reported period. Six vessels are currently at the berths.
The total export cargo of 34,526 tonnes includes 1,959 tonnes of cement and 32,567 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three ships namely Safmarine Ngami, MSC Roberta and Patagonia Gas sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. A total number of seven vessels viz Ionian Sea, Safmarine Ngami, Chembulk Savanah, MSC Catania, Fisher-K, Zeynep-K and Patagonia Gas are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, palm oil and LPG respectively during last 24 hours.
One LPG tanker namely MT Long Champ is currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz MT Long Champ and Al-Khalidia carrying LPG and furnace oil respectively are expected to take berths at Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Saturday.
