E-governance to be introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa transport department
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch e-governance at the provincial transport department for bringing transparency and purging corruption from the existing system, said provincial minister for transport, Mian Iftikhar Hussain while addressing a function regarding e-payment system.
In this connection, a meeting held to orient different companies regarding the system, here on Saturday. Iftikhar said that e-payment system has been introduced for tax collection of Peshawar Bus Terminal (PBT) under the first phase. He further said that the affairs of PTA and RTA especially issuance of route permits would be computerised after successful launching of e-payment system at PBT.
He expressed hope that the system will be helpful to remove public complaint regarding issuance of route permits, adding that it is not only handy for revenue generation, but would also ensure tax/fee from transporters at government prescribed rates. Similarly, it would also resolve day-to-day disputes over the turns of vehicles as there would be complete entry and exit data including the roots and turns would be available, he added.
