ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Secretariat Javed Ikhlas Monday informed the National Assembly that prices of petroleum products were less in Pakistan as compared to neighbouring countries.

Responding to a calling attention notice regarding recent increase in the price of the petroleum products, he said oil prices in India and other neighbouring countries were higher as compared to Pakistan.

He said prices of petroleum products in Pakistan were linked with international market. “If the prices of petroleum products decreasing internationally, the impact is being passed on to local consumers,” he added.

He dispelled the impression that any unlawful tax had been imposed on petroleum products and said maximum relief had been given to the people of Pakistan.
