FPCCI nationwide biennial polls to be held on Dec 29

fpcciLAHORE: The biennial elections of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), an apex body of chambers in the country,for 2012-2013 term will be held on Dec 29 across the country.

President FPCCI Senator Haji Ghulam Ali told APP on Sunday that all necessary arrangements had been made for conducting federation's election.

For the convenience of members of the general body, arrangements will be made at FPCCI head office and all zonal offices including liaison office, Islamabad for casting votes in the election for the top slots of president and eight vice presidents including one lady VP,he added.

Chairman Businessmen Panel,a ruling group of FPCCI and former federation chief Tariq Sayeed told APP here that all 240 voters would be required to cast vote in person.

He claimed that his panel was the largest alliance of chambers in the country, the names of its candidates for President and VPs would be made public soon with consensus.

Tariq said top trade leaders from all over the country especially co-Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik former federation chief would also be taken into confidence while finalising the names of the candidates.

He,however,made it clear that candidates would be nominated through consensus of all group leaders. He hoped his group will again sweep federation election it enjoyed massive support of business community all over the country.

As per traditions of rotation,next President of federation for next term will be from Balouchistan.
