ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat on Wednesday recommended extending the contracts of doctors of cardiac department of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The Committee meeting held under the Chairmanship of Senator Talha Mehmood at Parliament House Islamabad.

The committee expressed concern over non-extension of contracts of doctors as well as non-payment of salaries since 2015. The members of the committee said that the doctors play vital role in the health of people and society.

Pakistan Institute of Medical Science Executive Director Dr.Altaf informed the committee that decision for the regulations of doctors will be done after the recommendations of high power committee.

He said more than seven hundred companies are registered for purchase of life saving emergency medicine.

He said drug testing laboratory was not present in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and patients ratio increased to 440 percents. He said in PIMS Out Patient Department daily four thousand patients are examined by doctors.

PIMS Executive Director Dr. Altaf said the summery of vacant post was send to ministry of further process. The Committee Chairman Senator Talha Mehmood directed the PIMS administration to present record of purchase of medicines of last three years.

The meeting was attended by Senators Kamil Ali Agha, Haji Saifullah Bangash, Kulsoom Parveen, Khushbakht Shujaat. Secreretary CADD Azhar Chaudhry, Member NHA Altatmish, ED PIMS Dr Altaf and member CDA Finance Fahad Aziz.
