Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has opened the doors of quality education on poor children who cannot afford schooling due to lack of resources. This model of public private partnership is being extended to seven other districts, so that more and more deserving students could enjoy this facility.
This was stated by Chairman PEF, Raja Anwar here Sunday while presiding over a meeting with a delegation of partner schools of southern Punjab who called on him at his office.
Giving details of Punjab government's initiatives for creating economic opportunities though the promotion of skills development, he said that free technical and vocational training to the needy youth in the districts of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran and Muzaffargarh has been planned so that they could start their own small businesses.
Rs10 billion have also been allocated under Southern Punjab Development Program (SPDP), he added.
This will help to improve the socio-economic standard of the lives there, he added. Anwar, "PEF is working to strengthen the mutual partnership, as it will ultimately benefit the partner schools' students' community. IT education is also planned in partner schools so that the students could access to modern trends of knowledge." The role of education has become even more vital to train youth to emerge as the leaders of tomorrow to steer the country to development. Education has become an absolute necessity for economic and social development and prosperity of a country, he concluded.
