District and Sessions Judge, Mujahid Mastaqeem here Saturday adjourned to October 12 the hearing in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case after counsel of Moonis Elahi MPA and son of former Chief Minister Punjab concluded his arguments. FIA will present submissions to counter the petition.
The petitioner counsel argued that no offence has been made out against his client either from the record of the case or the witnesses. He contended that the witnesses produced by the prosecution against his client have turned hostile, as they do not impute any offence to Moonis, which the prosecution alleges against him. As such no case stands against Moonis and he merits release with honour in this case, he added. Moonis was taken into custody by the FIA after dismissal of his pre-arrest bail by the Lahore High Court on May 17 last.
