Vice President, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Zafar Iqbal Geoffery has said that Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) is rendering highly laudable services regarding industrial growth and development by holding training programmes, seminars and workshops in major cities across the country.
Addressing a one-day training programme on "Productivity Improvement through Lean Management," held at SCCI on Thursday here, he said such programmes would be supportive in improving knowledge, skill and competencies in technical, financial, regulatory and other important functions. About the objective of this training programme is to improve the knowledge and skills of participants especially SMEs regarding productivity improvement through 'Lean Management System.'
Iqbal observed that Sialkot has truly followed the examples of Japan, Germany, Korea and Taiwan etc in development of SME culture. Undoubtedly, the SME sector of this export-oriented city and hub of cottage industry direly needed such training programmes to improve production standards and to cope with requirements of foreign buyers he added. He was of the opinion that participants of the training programme would surely be able to imbibe information on productivity improvement through lean management for implementing in their respective units.
The SCCI Vice President thanked Kiyoshi Yoshida, a renowned Japanese expert on lean production system, for sparing time for this training programme and participants would be able to understand the objective of this training programme. A large number of participants attended the training programme.
