Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday sought timeframe from the government for implementation of Supreme Court verdict on Karachi unrest. Talking to reporters outside Parliament House, he said if the government failed to implement the decision, the public's reaction would be severe.
He said the court has given a chance to the government to put its house in order and the government should not waste the opportunity. He said the apex court has clearly stated in its judgement that the federal and provincial governments failed in fulfilling their constitutional obligations to provide security to people, particularly in the case of Karachi. He said the court has questioned the government failure for not taking action against the criminals in Karachi. Referring to power load shedding, the leader of the opposition lashed out at the government for its failure to find permanent solution to overcome energy crisis. "If the government could eradicate the load shedding in three days then why it was testing the public's patience," he questioned, adding the government decides to wake up only when the situation gets out of control.
He said that it was now crystal clear that the fact behind the prolonged load shedding was the incapability and incompetence of the rulers. He, however, added the prime minister would be asked in the National Assembly on Monday that what next measurer would be taken to get rid of the power load shedding on permanent basis when the disbursed amount of Rs 10 billion is consumed. He further said the PML-N would continue its protest in the lower house on Monday.
Nisar dubbed President Zardari as "master in making deals', saying PML-N for the first time agrees with his remarks that 'politicians should learn from him. " PML-N agrees with his remarks that politicians must learn from him because he (President Zardari) is master in making deals," he maintained. The leader of the opposition also welcomed the statement by Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, saying the army chief has given the statement in light of the parliamentary resolution that 'there would be no more action.'
