Banker, his wife among seven killed in Karachi

Seven more people, including a banker and a worker of national flag carrier, were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis on Saturday. According to police, 40-year-old Arghaman, son of Anwar Jalil, and his wife Anila, 30, were killed in drive-by shooting in Block 3 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar in the limits of Jauhar police station.
The victims, who were the residents of Lal Flats located in Block 2 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, were targeted when they were returning home after attending a dinner. SP Waqar said that both the victims received fatal bullet wounds in drive-by shooting. He said Arghaman was a banker while his wife was working in the national flag carrier.
Shareefa, 40, and her 15-year-old son Arshad were found dead at the rooftop of one of the food factories located in Block 21 of F.B. Area, police said. They said the victims were the residents of Azeem Goth, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. They said the victim Arshad and his brother Aslam were the employees of that factory. Shareefa had borrowed Rs 0.1 million from Ahsan, an employee of the factory staying in the nearby servant quarters of the factory during the Eid holidays.
Police said the accused, Ahsan, invited Shareefa on Friday night to take advantage of her but her son also reached the spot and foiled his vicious attempt that led to the killing of both the victims. They said the accused, who hailed from Dadu, escaped from the scene after committing this crime.
In yet another incident, 26-year-old Shahid, son of Mehmood Hassan, was shot dead near Usmania Masjid, Golimar in the jurisdiction of Rizvia police station. Police said the victim, who was the resident of North Nazimabad but living with his grandfather at Golimar, was hit by three bullets while travelling on bike. Police suspected the involvement of one of his relatives in his murder.
A case 255/11 was registered on the complaint of Shahid's uncle Aziz. A vendor of toys was killed in a firing incident in Sector 9C of Baldia Town in the precincts of Saeedabad police station. The 30-year-old victim, identified as Hakeem Shah, used to sell toys on a pushcart in the same area where he resided. Although, his body was shifted to Civil Hospital, his family members removed it without completing legal formalities.
In another incident, a three-day-old bullet-riddled body was found near Malik Hotel located in Machar Colony in the remits of Docks police station. Police said they found the body near Malik Hotel of the colony and added that the identity of victim, who received fatal wounds on his head, is yet to be ascertained. A case 250/11 has been registered on the complaint of the state. An overdose of addictive narcotics (heroin) claimed the life of Zahid, son of Hakeem, in Saachal police limits. SHO Azhar said the four-day-old body was recovered from a water tank of Jauhar Complex. He said the victim, who used to take drugs inside the said tank, killed because of overdose.
