Swiss franc up versus euro, dollar

Published Updated

The Swiss franc rose against the dollar on Tuesday as traders took profits after strong US consumer spending data buoyed risk appetite and sent the safe-haven franc to a five week low against the dollar in the previous session. The franc was also higher against the euro, off a seven week low against the single currency in the Monday session, when a merger between two large Greek banks provided a rare spark of optimism in the debt-blighted eurozone.
The franc rose 0.4 percent against the euro compared to the New York close to trade at 1.1796 francs to the euro by 0750 GMT. The franc was 0.2 percent higher against the dollar at 0.8144 francs per dollar.
