US soyabean futures rose 1.3 percent on Monday, supported by concerns that dry weather in the US Midwest will push this year's harvest below expectations. "The big thing is dry weather concerns across the Midwest and a lack of rain in the forecast," said Brian Hoops, president of Midwest Market Solutions. "Beans are in their reproductive stage and are getting hurt."
The front-month soyabean contract, which enters delivery later this week, hit its highest in more than six months and corn's nearby contract was at its highest since mid-June. At 11:33 am CDT (1633 GMT), Chicago Board of Trade new-crop December corn was up 4-1/2 cents per bushel to $7.71-1/2 after. New-crop November soyabeans were up 18 cents at $14.41-1/2. CBOT December soft red winter wheat futures were up 2-3/4 cents at $7.99-3/4 a bushel. KCBT December rose 2-1/2 cents to $8.94-1/2. Minneapolis Grain Exchange December spring wheat was up 3-3/4 cents at $9.40-1/2 a bushel.
