The National Assembly and Senate would meet on September 12, 2011 and law and order situation in Karachi along with the 'explosive disclosures' of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and his resignation as Sindh's senior minister and Vice President of PPP are likely to be discussed during the sessions.
The president has summoned the sessions of both the houses of the Parliament, which would meet separately on September 12 at 5:00 pm. According to the schedule of the National Assembly's calendar, the session of the lower house would continue till September 30.
Sources in National Assembly Secretariat told Business Recorder that the issues of load shedding, price hike, law and order situation in Quetta and other issues would be discussed in the forthcoming session. Earlier, PML-N had submitted requisition for calling NA session on Karachi situation. However, President Zardari summoned National Assembly earlier than the PML-N move.
PML-N legislators including Dr Fazal Chaudhry, Malik Ibrar, Anjum Aqeel and Shakil Awan filed the requisition under Article 54 (3) of the constitution to NA secretariat with signatures of 93 legislators. They have taken the plea that all the political parties of the country including PML-N and the people of the country are much concerned about the worsening law and order situation in Karachi.
Talking to media after submitting the requisition, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry of the PML-N said they had not filed the requisition after the press conference of Zulfiqar Mirza but PML-N felt the situation in Karachi was deteriorating day by day but the government was making no sincere efforts to improve the situation.
