The faithful observed Shab-e-Qadr, a holy night which falls between Ramazan 26 and 27, in the city with religious fervour and respect. Shab-e-Qadr bears special importance for the Muslims Ummah across the globe. The faithful stayed awake for prolonged prayer, avoided routine sleep to seek Almighty's blessing throughout the night.
The faithful also attended various religious gatherings, special prayers and also offered fateha and laid flowers on the graves of their loved-ones. Programmes of Khatam-e-Quran (completion of the recitation of holy Quran in Taraveh prayers) were also organised in the mosques after the Namaz-e-Isha. The prayer-leaders (Imams) in some of the major mosques also led Namaz-e-Salat-ut-Tasbih, offered in midnight.
Mahafil-e-Shabina also commenced at different mosques in the metropolis including Memon Masjid, Arambagh Masjid, Kanz-ul-Iman Masjid, Faizan-e-Madina Masjid, Tooba Masjid and the mosque named after Maulana Ehtisham-ul-Haq Thanvi, which will continue till announcement of sighting of the Shawwal moon. Prominent scholars also highlighted the significance of the Shab-e-Qadr according to the teachings of Islam through their speeches.
All mosques in the city were illuminated with beautiful and colourful lights. Free meals were also arranged by philanthropists for those observing 'Aetikafs' in various mosques. All town administrations arranged cleaning and lighting arrangements in the surroundings of the mosques and Imambargahs in their respective towns. Keeping in view the flux of faithful at the mosques, special parking arrangements were also made.
