College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) trainee doctors will be trained in England and Ireland for a specific period of time in different disciplines, said Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Regional Director. He was speaking at a ceremony to mark the concluding of different training courses here on Saturday.
He said that according to an MoU, the registered trainee doctors of CPSP would be trained in different specialities of medicine in England, Ireland and other developed countries after completing two years training in Pakistan. Similarly, trainee doctors will also get opportunities for training in emergency medicine and other disciplines.
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal further said that the fellows and consultants are also rendering services in Saudi Arabia against reasonable emoluments. Talking about courses, he said that CPSP has made communication skills, surgical skills, computer and internet and research methodology training courses mandatory for trainee doctors. In these courses trainee doctors are taught the latest methodology of research and ways of communication and conversation with patients.
They are also made acquainted with the moral and ethical values of medical profession. The training courses and residency programme of CPSP are in line with England and Ireland due to which the degree of CPSP is known through out the world and the demand of its fellows is increasing in Saudi Arabia.
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal asked the participants of workshops to utilise their energy on medical research. Squ. Ldr. Pervaiz Bashir (Retd), Research Scholar Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Dr Amina Ahmed, Programme Director, medical education, Aftab Mushhadi, Lieutenant Commander. Muhammad Saeed Akhtar and others were also present on this occasion.
