The legal fraternity continued strike at subordinate courts in the city on Saturday, the second consecutive day, against the killings of their colleagues. City and Malir district courts wore deserted look, as lawyers stayed away from appearing in the litigation. President Karachi Bar Association.
Mohammed Aqil told PPI that the strike continue till August 30, the deadline given to government for arresting the culprits involved in the incidents of practising lawyers' targeted killings. He added they would chalk out future course of action, if authorities fail to meet their demands of taking stringent measures to curb growing incidents of killings of innocent citizens, including lawyers, doctors, etc. On the other hand, a large number of litigants faced great hardships as the protesting lawyers refused to proceed their cases. Under-trial prisoners, also, could also not be brought to the courts from prisons for hearing of their cases.
