Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) signed two contracts here on Saturday for trainings in the sectors of hospitality and construction for people belonging to six model villages in district Muzaffargarh. According to an official, College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (a private training institute) has been engaged to provide training in the trades of professional cook, receptionists and order taker.
Technical Up-gradation and Skills Development (TUSDEC) will impart training in two contraction trades of masonry and plumbing. CEO PSDF Ali Sarfraz singed the contracts with CEO TUSDEC Syed Anwer Ali and CEO College of Tourism and Hotel Management Ahmad Shafiq.
The Fund that has been set up with contributions from the Government of Punjab and Department of International Development UK purchases training services from vocational training providers under a competitive model. The aim of the company is to improve income generation opportunities of the poor and the vulnerable populations of selected districts of South Punjab.
The total number of trainees that will be trained under the initiative will be 680. PSDF has already signed a contract with Hashoo Foundation and Punjab Vocational Training Council for which training activity will commence immediately after Eid.
To augment government efforts to rehabilitate people affected by the floods in Southern Punjab, PSDF invited expressions of interest for provision of vocational training for the inhabitants of six model villages, ie, Basti Meera Mullah, Basti Khara Niazi Walla, Rakh Jalwala, Bhulla Mouza Aalo Rid, Khara Nawa and Rakh Ehsanpur. The training imparted PSDF aims to provide employable skills to the poor and vulnerable populations of the above flood-hit villages.
