Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has sent reminders to all those companies and individuals who have not paid Sales Tax on Services (SToS) yet to Sindh government despite the passage of the deadline. This was stated by a spokesman of SRB while talking to Business Recorder on Saturday.
In a reminder email, it was mentioned that it has been noticed that some of the companies who have amount of sales tax levied on their taxable services, under the Second Schedule of Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act 2011, are still holding that amount with themselves and/or have not yet deposited it under the Government of Sindh''s head of account "B-02382-Sindh Sales Tax on Services" despite the fact that the prescribed due date in this regard expired on the 25th day of August, 2011.
The letter stated that it is once again clarified for the information of all concerned that consequent upon the 18th constitutional amendment to the constitution of Pakistan and seventh NFC Award, the Government of Sindh has enacted Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act, 2011, and the levy and collection of sales tax on the taxable services, provided or rendered in Sindh from 1st July 2011 onward, is the exclusive domain in the jurisdiction of Sindh Province.
The persons who have defaulted in depositing the payment of sales tax due for the tax period July, 2011, under the aforesaid head of account, have committed a breach of the provisions of sections 3, 9, 16 and 17 of the said 2011-Act and have rendered themselves liable to the assessment/recovery/ penal action under sections 23, 43, 44 and 66 of the said-Act, letter added.
The letter further stated that all such defaulting/non-complaint companies are advised, in their own interest, to comply with the provisions of the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act, 2011, and the rules made there under, and immediately deposit the amount of sales tax due for the tax period July 2011, under Sindh Government''s head of account "B-02382-Sindh Sales Tax on Services" as action against the defaulting persons is being initiated under the aforesaid provisions of the said 2011-Act The spokesman hoped that all those companies and individuals who have not paid SToS yet, would pay their due taxes to the SRB.
