IG Sindh Police, Wajid Ali Durrani has directed to take foolproof security measures around the busy shopping centres in districts Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur during Ramdan for Eid shopping.
"The shopping momentum will surge now onwards till 'Chand Raat' and there is a need for elaborate plan to provide security to the shoppers," he said while presiding over a high level security meeting at Central Police Office (CPO), here on Tuesday. He said it had been observed that robbers, muggers and bandits became active in their targeted areas during these festivities and deprive people of their valuables.
The Additional IG Karachi, DIGs of Police Range Hyderabad and Sukkur were specially directed to keep a check on street crimes through their subordinate officers in their respective areas, which were prone to such incidents. The IG directed the Additional IG to deploy extra-police force in uniform and mufti to give protection not only to customers but also shop owners and set up watch towers as well as keep close liaison with lower cadres to boost their moral. He also called for taking measures around the mosques and Imambargahs, and remained vigilant particularly during 'Shab-e-Qadr' and 'Jumat-ul-Wida. "We would also be in touch with the high ups of City Government and other law enforcing agencies," he maintained.
