Awami National Party (ANP), in comments on the notice taken by Supreme Court over the ongoing target killings in Karachi, has called for taking up the issue of May 12, 2007 violence in Karachi. ANP Spokesman Senator Zahid Khan recalled the May 12, 2007 incidents when innocent people were killed who had come out on streets to welcome Chief Justice of Pakistan on his arrival in Karachi.
He said the judicial action was long over due since then. The Director of Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court on Monday directed directors' news of eight television (TV) channels to submit by Tuesday all the available CDs/DVDs and other relevant material containing information over incidents of target killings in Karachi. The directive was issued after Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry gave order on a human rights case forwarded by the Cell containing press clippings about an appeal made by Dr Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri, Chairman of Pakistan Awami Tahreek.
