Indonesia's 66th Independence Day: CG holds flag-hoisting ceremony at consulate

Flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi to celebrate the 66th Independence Day.
All Karachi based Indonesian community, Indonesian students, the staff of the Indonesian Consulate General and their families attended the event with great zeal and enthusiasm. A number of Pakistanis friends who were especially invited also attended the ceremony.
Consul General of Republic of Indonesia Honourable Rossalis R. Adenan in his address throw the light on the independence struggle that martyred hundred of Indonesian heroes in fighting for their sovereignty. A smart group of Indonesian youth, in smart and beautiful Indonesian official uniform hoisted the national flag of Indonesian in Indonesian National Anthem.
The Consul General also distributed special honoraria to the families of those Pakistanis who sacrificed their lives during the Independence War in 1945. The Consul General distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up of the different games, which have been done one month before. A photo exhibition was also arranged to show the activities of the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi along this year. Speaking at the ceremony, Indonesian Consul General said on Monday the 15th of August 2011, the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi organised the ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony.
The ceremony was previously scheduled on August 8, but considering many aspects, including un-conducive security situations, the ceremony scheduled to be held on August 15.
Hoisting of the ASEAN flag is the implementation of the decision of ASEAN Foreign Ministers Retreat's Meeting held in Lombok, 16-17 January 2011 wherein it was unanimously agreed to hoist ASEAN's Flag together with the national flag of each member country at the anniversary of ASEAN-44, dated on. August 8.
Hoisting ASEAN flag along with the Indonesian national flag reflects the symbols of a real awareness of the unity of the nations of ASEAN in the ASEAN Community that will be officially formed in 2015. The realisation of the ASEAN Community is expected to play the central role in shaping the future architecture of East Asia.-PR
