Gurus of CNG sector have strongly urged the government to maintain at least 45 percent price difference parity between CNG and petrol. This was stated by the leaders of All Pakistan CNG Association, CNG Dealers Association and CNG Owners Association including Ghayasuddin Piracha, Junaid Makda, Malik Khuda Bakhsh and Abdus Sami Khan in a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.
They said the CNG price should be 45 percent lower than petrol. They said the price mechanism for CNG should be notified as per the approved formula of Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet. They said the government has to evolve a gas allocation strategy to facilitate CNG sector at maximum.
They dispelled the statement of Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, saying that the filling station owners were not selling the compressed gas at a margin of Rs 30 but at Rs 7 to 8. They said that it was needless to give statement regarding CNG price margin as the same had already been decided by the Ministry in May 2011. They hoped the meeting, which is scheduled with Secretary Petroleum on Friday, is likely to resolve the issues related to CNG industry and added that further line of action would be decided after this meeting.
