THE RUPEE: dollar higher

The rupee was down against dollar on the currency market on Friday due to higher demand for the greenback, dealers said. The rupee lost 11 paisa versus the US currency for buying at 86.46 and shed 10 paisa for selling at 86.50, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the final session of Asian trade the safe-haven Swiss franc nursed heavy losses, having posted record one-day falls against euro and dollar after the Swiss National Bank threatened to step up its fight to curb the franc's strength.
The euro dipped 0.6 percent versus Swiss franc to 1.08000. Euro-Swiss, which hit a record low of 1.0075 on Tuesday on trading platform EBS, is still down 1.4 percent on the week, even after having surged by as much as six percent on Thursday.
Dollar was available at Rs 45.41 for Indian currency, the greenback was trading versus the ringgit at 2.9880 and the US currency was available at 6.395 in terms of the Chinese yuan.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee held the overnight levels in terms of dollar for buying and selling at 86.10 and 86.30, they added. The rupee shed one paisa versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 122.50 and Rs 123.00, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained under pressure and lost 10-paisa against the dollar in the local currency market on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar witnessed fresh demand that helped its appreciation in the open market. At the end of trading, the dollar was closed at Rs 86.20 and Rs 86.40, as its buying and selling rates against the overnight closing of Rs 86.05 and Rs 86.25, respectively, the dealers said.
Similarly, the rupee could not sustain and was declined against the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rates were increased from Thursday closing of Rs 139.80 and Rs 140.80 to Rs 140.20 and Rs 141.00, respectively, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling) against the last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 86.00 (buying) and Rs 86.30 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 138.30 (buying) and Rs 138.50 (selling) the overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 138.30 (buying) and Rs 138.50 (selling).
