In view of the persistent rains in the city, Administrator Karachi Fazlur Rehman has declared the state of emergency in city government and town administration. Leaves of the staff of the essential services departments have been cancelled and they have been directed to report for duty, said a statement issued by CDGK here on Thursday.
All the essential services' departments have been instructed to ensure round the clock work on eight hour shift basis. The Administrator personally monitored the situation in city and remained present in his office at Civic Center throughout the night on Wednesday while the District Co-ordination Officer Mohammad Hussain Syed also co-ordinated with the officers and staff on duty and monitored the situation through camp office.
Administrator Karachi also reviewed the city condition through the command and control room in Civic Center and also visited the city. He expressed satisfaction of seeing the concerning staff of the city government is on duty at the designated points and in case of unusual rains, situation would be controlled as they have made all preparations in advance.
Talking to media representatives in his office, he said with the restoration of frozen accounts of the city government there would be no problem with regard to availability of fuel for municipal services' vehicles and payment of salaries to employees.
