National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has improved its services in United Arab Emirates (UAE) to facilitate over 1.3 million Pakistanis living in the UAE to obtain the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). NADRA has so far issued NICOPs to about 399,445 Pakistani nationals living in the UAE, which will help them when they visit Pakistan, said Chairman Nadra Ali Arshad Hakeem while talking to Jamil Ahmed Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE.
Pakistani envoy in the UAE called on Chairman Nadra on Wednesday at Nadra Headquarters and the purpose of visit was to thank Chairman NADRA for setting up new counsellor section in UAE that is facilitating overseas Pakistanis. During the meeting several other issues related to Pakistani community were also discussed and both agreed to work closely for the betterment of Pakistani community.
"NADRA has been vigorously working to solve the problems of Pakistani community living in the UAE and other countries and facilitating to cater their needs of registration", NADRA chief said. Nadra Mobile registration units are also working in close collaboration with Pakistan embassy in the UAE and facilitating the people while induction of Nadra female staff and double shift duty of Nadra employees have been very successful in resolving problems of Pakistani community, he said.
He said that Pakistani community in the UAE represents Pakistan; Nadra understands their problems and in consultation with UAE embassy has tried to facilitate them. The authority will ensure progress and speedy delivery of NICOPs to them. The chairman Nadra also apprised the ambassador about multipurpose Smart NICOP for Overseas Pakistanis, which is aimed at bringing revolutionary changes while incorporating number of programmes and services like remittances and health insurance etc.
