As per past practice, Punjab University will organise a flag hoisting ceremony in front of the Vice Chancellor Office, Administration Block New Campus on Sunday, August 14 at 8:00am in connection with the independence day of the country. Vice chancellor, Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran will hoist the national flag. A special meeting to finalise arrangements in this regard was held under the chairmanship of Committee Chairman, Professor Dr Liaqat Ali, here on Tuesday.
The meeting decided to decorate the buildings of Allama Iqbal (Old) Campus, Institute of Education & Research (IER) and Jamia Mosque, New Campus on the night of Saturday, whereas the flag-hoisting ceremony will be held on Sunday at 8:00am at New Campus. Meanwhile, students of Punjab University Electrical Engineering Department students showing outstanding performance in co-curricular competitions met the VC his office, here on Tuesday. Department Chairman, Professor Dr Rafique Ahmad and students' supervisor for the contests and Lecturer Umar Farooq were also present on the occasion.
The VC observed that students of the department have won 37 competitions during the last three years. Professor Dr Kamran appreciated this performance and congratulated Dr Rafique and Umar Farooq. He said the distinction in competitions were due to the selection of students on merit. While encouraging the students, the VC advised them to work hard with commitment and devotion and earn fame for the varsity at the national and international level.-PR
