Chairman Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), Raja Muhammad Anwar has said that educational stipend worth rupees one billion will be distributed among the girl students belonging to the remote and far-flung areas. This programme is aimed to encourage education as well as helping deserving girls receive education.
He stated this while addressing the function organised in a PEF-partner school in Baghbanpura. He said that school education is especially being encouraged, as it's the pivotal tier of whole educational system. He informed that rupees one billion were provided for schools' upgrading while another amount of rupees 54 crore (540 million) were allocated for the restoration of dilapidated school buildings.
While discussing the importance of education in raising the standards of life, PEF-Chairman Raja Anwar said that eight Daanish Schools will be opened during the current fiscal year in education-wise backward and remote areas to provide state of the art education to the poor children there. Education is the basic right of every child and the government is utilising all out resources to ensure that every child could get education, he concluded.
The function was also addressed by school principal, teachers and students who highlighted importance of education in bringing social change in the society.
