Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi OE vowed to persuade Japanese businessmen to invest in the Pakistan Textile City. "Pakistan has huge potential and the idea of Textile City was very attractive", said Hiroshi OE who called on Federal Minister for Textile Industry Makhdoom Shahabuddin here on Wednesday.
The meeting was arranged to discuss the prospects of "Pakistan Textile City", a recent project launched by the Textile Ministry. Ambassador said that he would meet the Japanese businessmen and to persuade them to make investment in the project. Furthermore, he also showed keen interest in visiting the site of the project. Pakistan Textile City is being established as a benchmark industrial zone providing modern infrastructure to the value-added textile sector. It will help increase the exports significantly as more than 277 new units will be established on 1,250 acres of Textile City, said Federal Minister on the occasion.
Makhdoom Shahabuddin further said that the basic idea of the project was to facilitate and boost textile industry and to get maximum foreign direct investment in this sector. He further highlighted that development work was in progress and all state of art facilities and amenities like, wide roads, support industry, uninterrupted gas and water supply, hospitals, schools and effluent treatment plants would be provided to the investors.
"Our vision is to build an international standard zone for textile industry and to provide a wonderful opportunity to both foreign and local entrepreneurs", Minister said. Secretary Ministry of Textile Industry Shahid Rashid and CEO Pakistan Textile City Limited Zaheer Hussain were also present on the occasion.
