The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz, has urged the students to use their expertise in the field of cosmetics, which is expanding every passing day and Pakistan alone is importing cosmetic products worth billion of rupees.
He was addressing at a certification distribution ceremony on the conclusion of four-month optional course on cosmetics held on Wednesday at conference hall organised by the Institute of Pharmaceutical sciences. Director institute of pharmaceutical science Farzana Chaudhry and Dr Muhammad Atif Kamran also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz said the university would produce skilled human resources to cut the huge volume of imports. He advised the students not to become a job seeker but try to become entrepreneurs and explore the ability of developing new products.
"You are going through the initial phase of learning and during the second phase you would earn money and in the third phase of your life, you need to return your knowledge to the society as is the case with the institute's director," he said. Dr Muhammad Nawaz explained that cosmetic products that were being manufactured with low standard local chemicals were posing serious health hazards.
Dr Nawaz said that the university's institute of pharmaceutical science was working in five areas including biological, diagnostic, medicine, herbal and cosmetic adding that the course aimed at training students and delivering more information about quality cosmetics and safety purpose in this regard. Later, Dr Muhammad Nawaz distributed the certificate among the students who successfully completed their course.
