Capital City Police Officer, Ahmad Raza Tahir Tuesday visited Allama Iqbal Medical College and met its principal and all members of academic staff. Speaking on the occasion, the CCPO said the role of doctors and police in any emergency situation and disaster management is of prime importance. He called upon doctors and police officials to work with missionary zeal for welfare of the society.
He thanked the administration of Jinnah hospital for announcement of provision of free-of-cost medical treatment to police 'jawans' affected by hepatitis, free blood testing and provision of basic medical training to all jawans of traffic police to help the victims after accidents.
He announced upgrading and turning into a model the Police Chowki established at the hospital. He said that chalking out Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) with regard to disaster management is highly necessary to meet any emergency or uncalled for situation in an effective manner. The CCPO pointed out that in any situation or emergency, it is the police jawans and the doctors' community, which are at the forefront. He directed the city traffic officer to streamline traffic system around Allama Iqbal Medical College and Jinnah Hospital so that patients do not face any difficulty reaching. He apprised the participants about the steps taken by Lahore Police to maintain law and order and arrest incidents of car or motorcycle lifting in the city.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Principal Doctor, Javed Akhtar assured the CCPO of wholehearted co-operation for protection of life and property of the masses and announced free-of-cost medical care to police personnel and their family members. At the conclusion of the meeting, Ahmad Raza Tahir was presented a commemorative shield by the principal. DIG Operations Gulam Mehmood Dogar, City Traffic Officer Lahore, Captain (R) Mubeen and SP Model Town Awais Ahmad were also present during the meeting.
