ISLAMABAD: President of the Swiss Confederation Mrs Micheline Calmy-Rey on Thursday phoned Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and conveyed that relations between the two countries would continue to grow in the future as well.
It may be mentioned here that the second term of the Swiss President will expire before the forthcoming World Economic Forum (WEF) at Devos in which the Prime Minister is likely to participate.The Swiss President said that she would not be able to receive the Prime Minister as President after the expiry of her second term, but it was her earnest desire that the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries would continue to enhance in future.
Mrs Micheline Calmy-Rey also enquired about the health of President Asif Ali Zardari and expressed her best wishes for the President.
The Prime Minister said that the ties between the two countries had been strengthening by regular exchanges and Devos was resulting in greater understanding of the issues of global importance.
The Prime Minister commended the role of Swiss Government being an important member of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) forum.
The Prime Minister appreciated the humanitarian assistance of the Swiss Government for the earthquake and flood victims in Pakistan.
