Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has proposed a peace formula for restoring peace and stability in Karachi. Speaking to a gathering of MQM office-bearers and workers at Lal Qila Ground, Azizabad, Altaf said that all the religious and political parties in the country should send a five-member delegation to Karachi for the sake of restoring peace.
He said that if a single bullet was fired anywhere in the city, these delegations should be sent to the concerned area to see for themselves as to who was firing. Hussain also invited retired army officers and retired judges to become part of the delegations in order to ascertain the identity of those who were creating trouble. He asserted that if this was done everything would become crystal clear.
He particularly appealed to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari, Pir Sahib Pagara of PML-F, Imran Khan of PTI, Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI-F and leaders of all other political and religious parties to send their delegations to Karachi.Hussain also asked the local and national leaders of the PPP and the ANP to invite Asfandyar Wali and Asif Zardari to Karachi for ameliorating the situation.
Hussain asked the ANP, the MQM, the PPP and the Kachhi community to reach those areas where bullets were being fired. Hussain said that the MQM staunchly believed in democracy and it respected the vote bank of all the religious and political parties. If someone wanted to suppress the MQM with the brute force of the state then the history is witness that those who tried to eliminate the MQM were themselves eliminated.
Hussain commended the Armed Forces and defence institutions for their bravery. He said that the country was passing through hard times and international powers were mounting pressure on the Army and other defence institutions. He said that some people were planning that they would do with the MQM whatever they wanted because the Army and defence institutions were busy in sorting out their own issues were mistaken.
Hussain asked the MQM leaders, office-bearers, and workers to show restraint for the establishment of peace in Karachi. He asked them to control their emotions for the sake of the country. Earlier, Hussain congratulated all the oppressed and deprived people of the country over the 14th Foundation Day of Muttahida Quami Movement. He said that the MQM that had started its journey as Muhajir Qaumi Movement was transformed into Muttahida Quami Movement on July 26 fourteen years ago in order to bring out a revolution of the poor and middle class people.
