Sugar and coffee futures fell on Monday, weighed down by mounting risk aversion among investors due to the deepening debt crisis in the eurozone and the potential for a US debt default. Volume though was light in New York soft commodities, ranging from 40 percent to two-thirds below the 30-day norm near 1 pm EDT (1700 GMT), Thomson Reuters preliminary data showed.
New York's October raw sugar contract fell 0.21 cent to trade at 28.76 cents per lb at 12:47 pm EDT (1647 GMT). ICE September arabica futures fell 4.20 cents to trade at $2.4935 per lb at 12:50 pm New York's September cocoa contract lost $9 to end at $3,159 per tonne.
