US corn prices slid 1.5 percent on Monday as a heat wave across the Corn Belt which lifted prices 9 percent last week appeared less severe according to the latest weather forecasts. Wheat fell 2 percent, following the slump in corn and on an advancing wheat harvest in Russia, a top competitor for export business. Soyabeans dipped about 0.5 percent.
September corn on the Chicago Board of Trade shed 1.5 percent to $6.90-1/2 a bushel by 11:48 am CDT (1648 GMT) in its first decline in eight trading sessions.
August soyabeans fell for the first time in five sessions, slipping 0.5 percent to $13.79 a bushel. CBOT September wheat fell for a third straight day, tumbling 2 percent to $6.80-3/4 a bushel.
