Budget of Islamabad Police would be enhanced to make the force more vibrant and every possible step would be taken to improve its functioning, besides upgrading police training school to college level as per the commitment made by Prime Minister Gilani and notification in this regard to be issued soon, said Khawaja Siddique Akbar, Federal Secretary of Interior here on Monday.
Islamabad Police have played great role in protecting the federal capital from terrorists' attacks and its personnel averted many threats with courage and even sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, Interior Secretary said while addressing the passing out parade of Inter-mediate Course at Police Lines Headquarters, in which 272 head constables were passed out.
"Islamabad police rendered unparalleled sacrifices in war against terrorism and sacrifices of officers and officials of Federal Police will remain source of inspiration for law enforcers", Secretary Interior said. He said performance of Islamabad Police would be improved by providing the best working environment to personnel of the force. "I am delighted today after observing the vigilant contingents of Islamabad police. The personnel of the force are really very much alert and are capable to counter any challenge through their professionalism," he added.
Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Bani Amin said several courses are being conducted to improve the skills of policemen. Islamabad Police have arrested several notorious criminals and terrorists and foiled their nefarious designs to target important installations and also innocent citizens, he added. "We are determined to improve the performance to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens", the IGP said. He informed 42 officials of the capital police embraced martyrdom while protecting the life and property of citizens. The IGP thanked the guests who attended the ceremony of passing out parade and also congratulated those candidates who successfully conducted this course.
Later, the Interior secretary distributed prizes among the position holders of various categories in this course. All round first prize was given to Head Constable Ghulam Dastagir. Head Constable, Muhammad Jameel won Best of Parade Award while Head Constable clinched Best of Fire Award. The ceremony was attended by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin, AIG Ahsan Sadiq, AIG Khalid Khattak, AIG Muhammad Ashraf Zubair Siddiqui, SSP (Headquarters) Zubair Hashmi, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood. A smartly turned out contingent of Islamabad police presented guard of honour to the Interior Secretary who also observed the parade along-with IGP Islamabad.
