Power shortfall is yet above 5,000MW with dwindling generation capacities of hydel, thermal and IPPs due to short supply of fuel. Power generation during the last 24 hours stood at 12,809MW against a demand of 17,978MW, putting the system short of 5,169MW. However, power demand reduced from 18,102MW during the last 24 hours due to drop in mercury amidst rainy season.
But still, power generation remained dismal due to supply issues. An above 5,000MW shortfall resulted into 10 to 12 hours load-shedding in urban and rural areas respectively. Especially, the consumers in remote cities and towns were in great trouble due to the rise in humidity.
Meanwhile, power generation through hydel, thermal, IPPs and RPPs remained 4954MW, 2048MW, 5681MW and 126MW respectively. Power supply, during the last 24 hours, was recorded at 720MW. Pepco sources are not hopeful about a major shift in generation of electricity for another couple of days.
