The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) chapter has deplored police torture and manhandling of workers and illegal raids in their houses in PF-3 constituency and alleged that the provincial government was behind the cruel episode.
Speaking at a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club, PTI provincial president Asad Qaiser alleged that the ANP government did not accept emerging strength and fame of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the province.
He said that ANP activists, backed by Tehsil Municipal administration (TMO) and police, had raided houses of PTI workers in PF-3 constituency, adding that the attackers had ransacked houses and torn PTI posters, banners, and removed slogans on walls, which was totally undemocratic and unconstitutional step. "We strongly condemn the brutal episode against the PTI workers", he said. He said that nobody can dare to suppress to democratic right and remove PTI through such weakening tactics.
Asad said that provincial government wants to make province a hub of violence like prevailing situation of Karachi. He asked the government to focus problems and issues confronting the province instead of taking autocratic action. He said that the province is facing enormous electricity crisis, unemployment, price hike, but the government has failed to take any practical steps to overcome with growing crisis.
He said the PTI workers had also been targeted in Swat and Battagram during a peaceful protest demonstration. "We are peaceful people and raising voice for poor masses and their problems through a democratic way," he added. He vowed that PTI will continue its struggle till elimination of lawlessness, containing of food prices and addressal of electricity crisis in the province.
