Imran terms grand alliance 'grand fraud'

Chairman Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan has said a mid-term election is the only solution to deal with the current crisis as the government has failed to deliver, thus it should resign immediately. Addressing a press conference on Friday, he condemned the target killings in Karachi and held MQM, PPP and ANP responsible for the massacre. He said Karachi mayhem proving detrimental to the national economy; many people are shifting their businesses to Dubai, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
"The government is not willing to control the situation in Karachi," he added. He criticised Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik for failing to take timely action in Karachi. He claimed that Malik went Karachi to make a deal with the MQM and then returned to Islamabad; he paid no heed to the killing of innocent people.
He said the Rangers had miserably failed to check the killings while the police did not have the competency to handle the situation. He claimed that the government was responsible for weakening law and enforcement institution by inducting party workers in the Sindh Police. He also questioned the government's intention behind allowing armed groups to freely move in Karachi.
He strongly ruled the option of a military operation in Karachi and added that history tells us that military options in the past have miserably failed to address the issue; in fact it had exacerbated that situation. He was of the view that it was the job of police to ensure law and order in cities and thus it was imperative to improve the institution of police.
To a question on grand alliance, he said it was a grand fraud; after gaining financial benefits now they talk about saving the system; in fact they (referring to PML-N and MQM) have joined hands to save their vote banks. He categorically ruled out joining the grand alliance and added that twice he was ditched by the PML-N and now he has no intention of getting ditched for the third time.
He also criticised the Punjab government for three-day gas loadshedding in the province, which has ruined businesses. He said after allowing the 18th Amendment, Sharif brothers have given a gift of gas loadshedding to the people of Punjab. Khan said his party believes in politics of right and wrong and he vowed to bring peace and prosperity in the country. "It will be a golden age in Pakistan when we will be in power." He said they have a capable and honest team to run the country. "We are preparing a 100-day contingency plan to rescue the country from prevailing crises, which we will implement when we come into power," he added.
He said that the same forces would not return to power in the next elections; people are not fool to reelect failed rulers. He said his party was gaining popularity in the country and according to an American survey, PTI was the number one party in Pakistan. Responding to another question, he said they had already started a movement and they would hold a public gathering in Faisalabad after Eidul-Fitr in Lahore.
