The Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution (Sessi) will spend a sum of Rs 1.87 billion towards the provision of the medical facilities to the registered workers and their families during the fiscal year 2011-12. This was 72 percent of the organisation's total budget, a spokesperson for the Sessi said here on Thursday.
In the budget 2011-12, a sum of Rs 236.6 million has been earmarked for the purchase of medicines and Rs 30 million would be spent on purchase of plots and construction of medical centre and dispensaries. A 200-bed hospital would be constructed at SITE Kotri and a sum of Rs 25 million have been allocated for the project.
The spokesperson further pointed out that a surgical complex would be constructed at Landhi Hospital at the cost of Rs 15 million. The labour room would also be expanded and a sum of Rs 2.2 million for the project and the Administration Block would be built at a cost of Rs 5.4 million. A dispensary would be built in SITE Karachi with a cost of four million rupees, while nine million rupees have been allocated for the Polyclinic ITC Landhi. A sum of Rs 5.4 million had been allocated for the casualty and construction of operation theatre at the Valika Hospital, it was further stated.
