Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO-Pakistan) would implement Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) programme with the assistance of European Commission and (UNIDO) to improve the standard of services and effective implementation of IP laws.
This was stated by Chairman IPO-Pakistan Hameedullah Jan Afridi while talking to the consultant of World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Inayat Syed who called on him here on Thursday. "IPO-Pakistan would be made an example of efficient and quality service-oriented organisation by implementing capacity building and automation programmes", Afridi added.
During the meeting various activities were discussed that have been planned to update the automation system of IPO-Pakistan by providing technical support to the functionaries of Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan. They also discussed TRTA programme which would be implemented in Pakistan with the assistance of European Commission and (UNIDO).
Executive Director IPO-Pakistan Umar Dad Afridi, Director Administration and Human Resources Meesaq Arif, Director Finance Inam-ul Haq, Director Legal Dr Muhammed Khurram and Assistant Director HR Asif Iqbal were also present.
Afridi further said that necessary steps have been taken to improve the standard of services and effective implementation of IP laws. He said that it is endeavour of the government to provide all the legal business entrepreneurs conducive environment by protecting their rights.
Chairman IPO-Pakistan informed about the initiatives adopted to promote the soft image of Pakistan in the world by promulgation and implementation of laws against the violation of copyright, counterfeiting of authorised and registered innovation. He said that nobody would be allowed to challenge the writ of government and with the close co-operation of WIPO and other agencies fair business practices would be promoted. He appreciated the contribution of WIPO for facilitating IPO-Pakistan in strengthening organisational structure.
Inayat Syed gave a brief account of the proposed activities of TRTA and assured every possible support and technical assistance in strengthening service delivery systems of IPO-Pakistan besides capacity developing of the professionals and experts of the organisation.
