Qaim orders stern action against trouble makers

Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah presided over a high-level meeting to take up law and order situation prevailing in Karachi, at CM House here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas, IG Police Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani, Acting Director General Rangers Sindh, Brigadier Zaffar Iqbal, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Waseem Ahmed and CCPO Karachi, Saud Mirza.
An official statement said that the Chief Minister Sindh took serious notice of the deteriorating law and order situation in the city and directed the police, Rangers and law enforcing agencies not to allow any miscreants to exploit the situation and further instructed that stern and even handed action be initiated against criminals and miscreants, irrespective of their political affiliation.
Shah also directed the police and law enforcing agencies and other officials to exercise high vigilance and evolve prompt measures to curb the activities of criminals. He also asked to remain alert so as to avoid any mishap leading to creating law and order situation as such incidents have potential of wide spread trouble.
The chief minister further directed that the police and law enforcing agencies should forthwith respond and control any incident of violence before it gives rise wide-ranging implications for the city peace. He said that the police should concentrate in arresting those persons who are involved and planning to disturb the peace and harmony in the city.
With regard to forthcoming Azad Kashmir elections, the Chief Minister Sindh instructed that no one should be allowed to take law in his hands, and the elections should be held in peaceful manners. The chief minister stressed that for the maintenance of law and order all out efforts be made to curb the crimes in the province particularly in Karachi.
He further asked that police and law enforcing agencies should try their best to strictly maintain law and order during the elections. He also urged the leaders of various political parties to play their positive role to show restraint and rein in their political workers so that they may not indulge in any violence and disturbance in the city. Earlier, the police and LEA officials presented a detailed briefing about situation prevailing in the city and efforts and measures being adopted for the control and maintenance of law and order by police and law enforcing agencies.
