LSE index gains 34.11 points

Bulls dominated on Lahore Stock Exchange on Tuesday where equities registered gains amid ascending transaction volume on account of fresh buying in select blue chips. The LSE-25 index gained 34.11 points and closed at 3128.74 points against 3094.63 points of Monday while trading turnover improved to 4.472 million shares as compared to 4.335 million shares.
The market opened on a healthy sign and stayed in positive zone due to investors' interest who made fresh entries in attractive shares like Pakistan Oilfields, PPL, MCB Bank, United Bank, National Bank, Bank of Punjab, Silk Bank, Adamjee Insurance, Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim and D.G. Khan Cement. However, due to profit taking, Nishat Chunian, Fatima Fertiliser, Engro Corporation, Lotte Pakistan PTA witnessed slight pressure and closed with marginal losses.
The gainers were more than the losers. Of 115 active issues, 46 companies posted gains and 10 went down, while 59 companies stayed glued to their previous levels. Pakistan Oilfields improved by Rs 9.41, MCB Bank gained Rs 2.30, Pakistan Engineering Company appreciated by Rs 2.00 PPL was up by Rs 1.40 and Fauji Fertiliser gained Rs 1.10.
In the minus column, Nishat Chunian lost 30 paisa, Fatima Fertiliser was down by 7 paisa and Engro Corporation lost 5 paisa. Bank of Punjab was the market leader whose 2.209 million shares changed hands followed by Nimir Industrial Chemical with 397,286 shares.
