The exhibition of paintings by two artists, Wajid Ali and Sadia Hussain, concluded here on Friday at Nomad Art gallery, featuring diverse thoughts on human feelings. The show, titled 'Sorry for Inconvenience', portrayed a collection of over 20 unique works in a blend of mediums like pencil and colour, pen, marker, acrylics and vinyl sheet on canvas, mix-media on paper, vinyl on paper and colour pen on paper.
Wajid Ali's work deals with the audio and visual images which surrounded him throughout his life, while Sadia's work plays with time and space. Wajid considers his work as a focus on human aspect and feelings, which prevail within the brotherhood of arms to an average civilian eye appear to be a single body of emotionless mass.
"The colours emanate from the various uniforms I recall from my childhood being an army brat. Later on I came across the same colours and line of the objects, portraits and figures while living the life of an army man," Wajid said. "The portraits and paintings along with the sculptures depicting martial images grew into my sub-conscience along with the different memorabilia, shields insignias etc," he added. Through these works, he tried to bring out the pain and anguish which the immediate families of soldiers were going through.
Sadia showcased her works, entitled 'Dual Lines', capturing the continuity of line which reflects time and space and takes the viewer on a trip through her personal experience. Her work is unique and personal, while the viewer's journey is a completely new experience and, perhaps every time, the works are viewed as a new experience, said Nageen Hyat, Director of the Gallery.
