LSE index loses 9.20 points

Published Updated

Equities on Thursday failed to maintain upward slide on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) and remained under pressure due to lacking interest on the part of investors. The LSE-25 index lost 9.20 points and closed at 3051.88 points against 3061.08 points of Wednesday, while trading turnover was marginally declined from last day volume of 2.841 million to 2.600 million shares.
While continuing day earlier sentiments, the market was opened on a positive note. However, it could not sustain and came under pressure, as investors started offloading their holdings in blue chips including PSO, Attock Refinery, Fauji Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Nishat Mills, Bank of Punjab, Lotte Pakistan PTA, Arif Habib Corporation, and Silk Bank.
However, Millat tractors, OGDC, PPL, Mari Gas, Dawood Hercules Chemical, MCB Bank, National Bank, Pakistan Engineering Company, Engro Corporation and Fatima Fertiliser showed strength and helped market avert more declines. The losers were more than the gainers. Of 109 active companies, 25 posted gains, 35 stayed in negative zone, while 49 companies remained unchanged at their previous levels.
Millat Tractors was improved by Rs 9.00, OGDC gained Rs 3.81, while Pakistan Engineering Company and Engro Corporation also moved up by Rs 3.00 and Rs 2.47, respectively. PSO lost Rs 2.87, Fauji Fertiliser was declined by Rs 2.65, while Treet Corporation and Adamjee Insurance were depreciated by Rs 2.00 and Rs 1.54, respectively. Bank of Punjab topped the volume leaders with trading of 879,510 shares, while Fatima Fertiliser stayed as runner up with 314,380 shares.
